It doesn't work with any of the several "region free" software progs available. One interesting? point that's come to light. Reducing target file size in DVD-shrink to 4240Gb (95%) seems to improve this situation. Often get burn failure as it writes lead-out. So far have found no updates to 1.00 firmware. Not so bad with RW although slower with DVD-RW. I have also found it very choosy about blank media when writing DVD+/-R. I have recently bought an Acer 8006LMi laptop using same Matsushita DVD-RAM UJ-820S drive. Pioneer 107, 8X R/W, Nec R/W ND-1300A, JLMS DVD ROM. I would suggest using some " Branded" Taiyo Yudens, some Sony, TDK, " Branded" Ridata, " Branded " Verbatim DataLife Plus, Ritek G04 or any media that boasts " Advanced METAL AZO" - BUT it has to include the word " METAL".Ĭompaq 8000, Pent IV CPU 2.84GHz, 1024MB RAM, 520GB HD. Video capacity: 120 minutes (standard Play)Īlso there are some excellent " Hacked Firmwares" here -īTW, I would suggest changing media unless ClipsKid comes up with something that says that Maxells are TY's. In my book " Maxell" are listed as having an UNKNOWN dye which usually means it varies and is usually the cheapest stuff on the cheapest composite they can get their hands on. I am not sure if you have long since solved your problem, but i know this one also drove me crazy, the fact that there are no drivers available for this DVD-RAM UJ-850s Until finally i have solved it Just for your convienience i will post up the thread i posted later HERE IT IS: None of that advice was of use to me and my specific problem. So thanks again, but as stated earlier, you have just pointed out something i have read over and over agin in lots of post on many different forums. There are hundreds of posts on forums about deleting REG UPPER & LOWER FILTERS etc.but as you will see, there are a number of people with a big problem with regard to this particular DVD-RAM uj-850s drive and i am happy to report that i followed the instructions given on the site i refer to in my thread and it worked fantasticly and i also had the added benefit of, having certain other hardware become usable again The solution which worked for me i have posted a new thread here: But i am afraid that your good advice did not solve my problem, and that is why i have posted for the benefit of many people i have seen on forums with this very same issue.
